Mix water, baking soda and lemon juice in a spray bottle and spay the pad on both sides. Let it soak for an hour, allowing the baking soda to absorb all the bad odors. Hose it down and either let it dry by itself, which might take several hours or use the vacuum to dry it up.
Tip: Always make sure that the egg crate foam mattress pad is completely dry because even the smallest water drops can cause mildew.
