A king size platform bed frame can be considered the high end of all beds, if you think of the sleeping surface. However, only in US alone there are two main dimensions for this type of bed and it’s clear why the customer might get confused and have a hard time choosing the right size for his bed.

Types of beds
Standard king.  The sizes for this are 76 in × 80 in (198 cm × 203 cm). This type of platform king size bed frame will be a great purchase for two adults, because the width gives 38 inches (99 cm) for each partner, which is more than enough.
California king. This one is not as wider, but it comes with more length, measuring 72 in × 84 in (180 cm × 210 cm).
Other names: The standard king is also known as the eastern king while the California king is known as the Western king, a cal king, a West Coast king or a WC king.

These beds are comfortable, but with their size, they also have some disadvantages so make sure that you can “handle” abed this big.

Disadvantages of the king size bed

Mattress
The platform bed looks great and it also takes up less space compared to traditional box spring beds. However, you might find it hard to look for a mattress because when you speak about comfort, these beds rely solely on the mattress, due to the lack of the box spring.

Test the mattress, see how you feel on it and if you have the slightest doubts about the level of comfort, don’t buy it because this is a clear sign that you won’t be satisfied with it and as a result, you won’t be able to enjoy relaxing sleep.

Size
Well, when you think of it, if you buy a platform bed frame in the king size, you will have more sleeping space, and thus sleeping will become more comfortable. However, you should consider other aspects, such as moving and cleaning. A king size mattress is heavier and bigger and it requires more effort when you have to flip it from a side to another.

After they buy it, most people notice that this mattress is hard to take it upstairs, through the hallways or small doors. Measure your space and see if you can squeeze a king mattress in your bedroom before actually looking for king size platform bed frames. The bed itself can be an issue when you clean because if you go for hard wood, such as oak, you will have a hard time moving it so you can easily clean underneath it.

Bedding
King size bedding items are the most expensive ones on the market, from obvious reasons. However, you can get them at half the price if you look in stores such as Wall-Mart or even Amazon, but the quality is not as great compared to what you can find in specialized bedding stores.

In a king size platform bed frame, a tall person can finally have enough length and a couple can enjoy enough width, so that everyone gets the sleep they deserve.
