The Shifman mattresses debuted, like I said earlier, in 1893, in Newark, New Jersey, when the brothers Abraham and Samuel Shifman created the company with one purpose in mind: to deliver superior quality bedding. At first the company was named A. Shifman & Bro. mattress company and had a great start, manufacturing long lasting bedding solutions.

After about twenty-three years, Abraham sold his share of the company to his brother and Samuel started managing the business with the help of his three sons. The company was now named Shifman bros Inc. and soon moved its headquarters to the One Mott Street, also in Newark.

With hard work and dedication, the company soon becomes the second biggest bedding supplies producer in Newark but soon problems started to arise. After the World war II, Robert and Burton, Samuel’s grandsons, were named members of the company, each one being responsible in two different fields: Burton with production and Robert with the sales. They did a great job, but they were unable to keep up with modern technologies and the Shifman mattress soon became outdated. Customers looked for modern covers and for a company that was willing to promote its product with effective advertising.

The Shifman mattresses were still selling, but not as good as they once did. Things were about to change in 1985 when Michael Hammer, bought the Shifman mattress co and started to change the technology. So the mattresses were manufactured using the some traditions but the improvements he made lead to the mattress we see today. Long-lasting, great looking, extremely comfortable and a craftsmanship process which uses only the finest materials, these are the features of the modern Shifman mattress.

The reputation of the Shifman mattress company is the living proof that their handmade mattresses are one of the best choices if you want to enjoy better sleep and to actually wake up in the morning refreshed and ready for a new day. Yes, they are pricier compared to other mattresses, but if you buy it you won’t have to worry about it for the next 20 years.
