If that label says king platform bed frame this doesn’t mean that you will actually get a king frame.


Not all furniture manufacturers follow standard and if you don’t pay attention to the actual size of the bed, you will have a hard time find a mattress to fit it o sheets that actually stay on the bed.

US
Standard king.  The sizes for this are 76 in × 80 in (198 cm × 203 cm).
California king. This one it has less width, but more length compared to the standard bed, having 72 in × 84 in (180 cm × 210 cm). The cal king platform bed frame is more frequent on the west coast, and it’s retailed under various names: western king, a cal king, a West Coast king or a WC king.

All these names can overwhelm you, so the best thing to do is to pay attention to the actual size and you will be on the safe side. Usually, a standard king is referred to as an eastern king and the California king is known as the Western king.

Australia
King. Their king size bed is intended to be used by one person, as you can easily see this from the size: 41 in × 80 in (106 cm × 203 cm). The name king is used thus for a single bed and if you want to buy a platform bed frame in this size, it will be more suited for a child or for a person that sleeps alone.

UK and Ireland
Standard King.  The king size platform bed frame has 59 in X 79 in (150 cm X 200 cm. However, you can find it in the 60 in X 78 in (152 cm X 198 cm) size so you can choose the one that fits best.
Super king. Here we also have two bed sizes, the 71 in X 75 in (180 cm X 190 cm and the 72 in X 78 in (183 cm X 198 cm).
Eastern king. This is a larger bed frame which can be custom made, having a width of approximately 78 in (200cm).

Norway
King. Here is easy to shop because they have only one King , so to speak, the 60 in × 79 in (150 cm × 200 cm). This is the smallest width and it provides better comfort for one person so this platform king size bed frame might not be a great purchase if you share your bed with someone.

New Zealand
Eve if these bed names can be found in the US also, they have nothing to do with it.
King. The size of this bed is: 65 in × 80 in (165 cm × 203 cm). Comfortable for two people, this might not be the right choice if you are taller.
Super king. This size of the platform king bed frame in this case will be 71 in × 80 in (180 cm × 203 cm ), more width, same length.
Californian king.  The epitome of space, this bed is wide enough that it can be shared by two adults and a small child, if needed, having 79 in × 80 in  (200 cm × 203 cm).

As you an see, depending on your location, the king platform bed frame can be found in many sizes, so carefully look at the label before buying to make sure that you get what you need.
